Christina is the host of a wonderful variety radio show "Cafe with Christina" broadcasted here in the Poconos on 93.5 SBG on Sunday mornings. I have had the honor of being her guest two times. Cafe with Christina is a variety radio show with an Hispanic point of view. Host Christina, originally from Spain, sets the energy level for an hour of magazine-style interviews, music, and style, on 93.5 SBG FM, every Sunday morning from 8-9am. She unites the different Latin cultures that are the rich diversity of the Poconos. You do not have to live in the Poconos to listen to her show; you can listen live to 93.5 SBG anytime/anywhere from their website and you can listen to Cafe with Christina as a podcast from her website. Christina’s guests are a melting pot of cultures: Afro-American, Polish, Argentineans, Mexican, Colombian, Puerto Rican, Dominican, ands dozens more, all in the USA! They share different traditions — even different words and expressions from their melting pot of Hispanic countries. However together they create a rich fabric woven of food, language, and fun…all listeners, whether they speak Spanish or English, are all “Amigos.” Christina's mission is to create a meeting place for all the Latin cultures here in the Poconos with other cultures in the area. Each one sees itself as distinct, each has similarities — but all are together here looking for friends, looking for a place where they are all welcomed. When she goes back to Spain, no matter how long it has been, she always feel a sense of security and familiarity, she wants everyone to have that same feeling in the Poconos. They always say “you can´t go home again.” but this is home. She also wants to bring people together no matter what their background is, we are all human beings and she feels that if we embrace each other, we will grow in compassion, tolerance, understanding and peace so we can leave a better world for our children and future generations!
