Talking About Race with Kaolin

Awake 2 Oneness Radio with Author Kaolin on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 7:00 PM EST. This program was pre-recorded. Click here to listen to the show on BlogTalk Radio. Or click here to watch the show on YouTube.

Kaolin was born in 1951 in Brooklyn, New York; she married in 1970 George A. Williams, who was a Vietnam Vet and NYC Firefighter. As a bi-racial couple it was difficult for them to marry in the early 70’s, especially because Kaolin’s family didn’t want her to marry outside of her race. They had two children and divorced after 9 years of marriage.

Kaolin's work includes a variety of avenues; she performed as a vocalist and worked in broadcasting during the 90’s. Kaolin has also worked in politics, organizing marches on Washington, D.C. for Peace and Justice. She is also a member of the Anti-Racism Committee in the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the National Writers Union.

As the author of "Talking About Race: A Workbook About White People Fostering Racial Equality in Their Lives", Kaolin does public speaking and consults with teachers and activists who are using her book. In addition to teaching, Kaolin is in several documentaries and designs study guides and workshop training programs for organizations, schools and programs that are dedicated to fostering racial equality in schools and the workplace.

Kaolin is also a spirit photographer and medium; Spiritually-Speaking Photography began for her in 2007.
